can see the top half is shatter ed and there's a bullet hole on the bottom pain of that window. listen now to the initial first few minutes from the police radio transmissions we've been able to listen to. 1034 from the subject's car thinks there is more than one subject. shots went objection to the form shot in the head. i have a shooter on scene. he's the homeowner of the house. we still have one outstanding. prince george's county police toed two vehicles from the crime scene. this mercedes suv and a ford f150 pickup truck. the initial calls to police said the mercedes may have been occupied by at least two people and perhaps more who may have pulled into the driveway of the home before attempting to take the truck. the man who was killed was found inside. no one else was found near the scene and there were no arrests. police came back to the house earlier today where

expecting that window on the second floor. the upper section of the window was broken out and there appeared to be a bullet hole in the lower pain. whatever happened here he may have all been recorded on no less than eight cameras. they're installed on at least three sides of the house as well as the front doomplet prince george's county police have not yet release the name nine person who was killed, but homeowners or i should say but the homeowner was not taken into custody and so far no charges have been filed. early this morning police spoke with my colleague kristin leone. >>reporter: at this early face we do believe that a resident inside of this home shot a man outside of the home and he was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. so we're work ing to establish exactly what circumstances occurred leading up to that shooting. okay, as fares a the relation ship goes what can you tell me between the shooter and the victim in this case? >> we're still pretty early into it. we're trying to det

there was several witnesses inside of the home which we're speaking to and trying to put all the pieces together. we understand the total number of witnesses may have been as many as 11 all taken down to police headquarters to be questioned. it took quite sometime to get the statements from all the people that were inside this house. again, no arrests have been made and police are unsure whether or not there may have been a second suspect involved and that person is not in custody. we're live in hyattsville, paul wagner, fox5 a local news. new tonight, three people are dead after a firery car crash and explosion in charles county. the driver apparently lost control and struck a tree. anjali hemphill talked to a man and his 15 year old stepson who tried to save one of the victims by dragging him from the fire. she's live with more. angelica lee. >>reporter: well,

woods behind me where this car ended up are still charred and full of ash. there is growing memorial with flowers for the three people who died. we spoke to a family who thought they were seeing christmas lights through the trees when they drove up on this scene earlier this morning. one of them start ed recording on their cellphone and took this video. take a look. it is somebody. now we have blurred the video, but you can actually see a man laying on the ground trying to waive down the quar that's driving by and you can even hear him calling out for help h. then you hear someone in the car say i hear somebody. that's car benjamin. he was driving while his 15 year old stepson shot the video. benjamin tells me they were driving home from richmond after visiting family for christmas. i was one a.m. when they approach the intersection of hawthorne road and that's

coming from the news. instead of continuing on they decided to issuing s s l back to make sure someone didn't help. we drove back around and we drove past the scene. we heard somebody yelling and we seen a body right beside the car. so we pulled his body from the car to the street until the police officer pulled up. i quept asking him was anybody in the car with him and he couldn't tell me. we did our part to get him to the hospital to try to keep him a live, but it wasn't in god's will. you have to do what you have to do. you see somebody you need help and we in a position to help him. that's how how i was raised. it's a terrible situation altogether. now our sky fox chopper captured these images in the morning of that burned car at a nearby salvage yard. investigators say this was a mercedes-benz that was headed southbound

control and veered off the road and hit a tree causing the car to catch fire and then it event ually exploded from the heat and even after benjamin and his stepson's brave efforts, unfortunately all three people in in this accident dievmentd the man benjamin tried to help was identified as 28 year older ric lamont moss. he was air lifted to medstar hospital where he did not survive. two other bodies were also found in the wreakage, but charles county sheriffs did not release their names. it's not clear whether speed or alcohol was a part of the crash. >> meanwhile fox5 234 montgomery county, a collision between a county police officer and another car sends three people to the hospital today. the crash happened just after noon near route 108 anvil age event center drive. last check the officer was at trauma with non life threatening injuries. the crash remains

panic. i tried. the possibility, a little bit of -- they already were throwing their cars into the ditch. if it's cold enough to snow for so many days in a row we're not going to get through this totally scott free. not going to be anything that will impact you this morning evening and some of us won't seen anything overnight. let's start off with what we're seeing and is that the cold temperatures. 36-degrees in washington, 31234 gaithersburg, p three manassas, that cold air came through yesterday morning, christmas morning and it is with us all week long. it will only be reinforced as we head through our next holiday, new year's day . the winds haven't been too bad today but even when you're out with just a breeze, ten to 15 miles an hours that arrested on an outstanding enough to make it feel even colder. the wind chills feels like 18. otherwise it's just straight up cold as we head into the evening. it is quiet, satellite april radar right now showing nothing but just

>> a passenger caught with a loaded gun at epa orlando international airport caused some pretty big backups during the christmas travel. they spot ted the gun and a.m. ammunition in the carry on. federal law prohibits travelers from carrying weapons through airport checkpoints. a little closer to home now, a maryland man was arrested at

for trying to bring a loaded gun through a security check point there. it marks the 25th gun ts a officers have detected which sedes the record for the most guns found at bwi in one year. the airport police confiscated the gun and arrested the man on weapons charges. a virginia man was trying to bring this loaded gun onto a plane on christmas day. do people not watch the news? >> or never fly. i don't understand. police confiscated and cited the man on weapons charges. he was flying to panama. meanwhile a battle over a first class seat on a united flight has turned into charges of racism. a woman alleges she was booted for jackson lee of texas. jackson lee said the issue had to do with race. she talked to the passenger to get reaction a little bit on the allegations that are coming out now. >>reporter: i spoke with her

about 20 minutes after sheila jackson lee posted these handful policyholder tweets. just when you think the story of the holiday is over it continues. it's the tweet that went viral over the holidays it's a picture that jean marie simon posted. it's a photo of congress woman sheila jackson lee in a seat that she imlaims she was booked and bumped from without her con sent. this tweeted over 27,000 times. it caused controversy, who the debate over the holiday weekend. united united airlines they say simon canceled the flight by using the app, but she contests that. simon says she is still waiting for a formal and written apology from the airline. the airline says they issued her a $500 value the day the

occurred jack. to weigh in with her reaction to the incident. over a dozen tweets she shared her statement. in part she tweeted the following. i noted that this individual came toward me and took a picture. i heard later that she might have said i know who she is. now, since this was not any fault of mine, the way the individual continued to act appeared to be upon reflection because i was an african-american woman. now, another tweet that she posted read in part but as an african-american i know there are too many examples like this all over the nation. fow she closed her series of tweets with the words i hope that one day we will accept our collective diversity, happy holidays. i did speak with simon on the phone about the allegations of racism suggested by the congress woman. this is what she had to say. she said i'm not going to address that because it could have been make mickey m

this is fox5 local news at five here's a look at your headlines now, first up, two people are under arrest in connection with a christmas day flight that turned violent in oh den odenton . police arrested 17 year old ryan golden and her x boyfriend. golden got into a fight with her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend. at one point she stabbed the other woman

then her boyfriend shot her in the leg. they first first and second degree murder charges. a smoke alarm woke up a chevy chase woman. which in turn saved her life. it broke out around two. it took firefighters about half an hour to put out the flames. she is expected to be okay. they think an electrical issue sparked the fire. also in montgomery county overnight, firefighters called to a home in germantown to help pull out a patient. ems crews needed firefighters help to stabilize and strengthen the stairs so they could transport the person into an ambulance. firefighters did that in less than an hour and the patient was taken to the hospital. every year the day after thanksgiving we talk about black friday. and now after christmas we talk about the mad rush to make the holiday returns . for some it is a post christmas holiday tradition. fox's corey coffin is live in falls church. and customers finding any good bargains out

>> there is some deep discounts from a loft stores. it depends on when the holiday falls. we have it on a tuesday, at least the end of the holiday the day after where people are starting to go out to work. we see less people out, but still people heading to the stores. anybody who didn't have to go back to work today trying to get the deals. there are quite a bit. stores opened as early as 6 a.m. and a all of these deals will still be going through the new year. get it before it's gone. get it before 208. stores do this in order to kind of offset the anticipated drop in rev p new this they would get after the holiday shopping because usually people are just fatigued . they're ready to be done with it. the things that you can find deep discounts on include clothing, exercise equipment, electronics, video games and even cars. of course anything holiday related. you could definitely keep that in mind, too. we're at a bigger shopping complex in falls church and we've seen a lot of activity as we showed you here. the park

new video of a coast guard rescue at see. this happened saturday off the coast of alaska . a man on board a cargo ship became ill apparently suffering symptoms of appendicitis. a coast guard helicopter had to come in and land and lift the man from the vessel. he was transferred to a medical plane for treatment. the coast guard over came some big challenges. it had to deal with 13-foot waves and wind gust ing at nearly 30 miles an hour. heading to austria now where photographers captured some incredible images of a landslide over the weekend. it happened christmas christmas eve in the town of vows. about 150 ville jers say they were trapped at home once

came sliding down the mountain. they tried to spend the day clearing a new path. lots of people in the midwest and northeast are digging out from a major snowstorm and while many people have enjoyed the holiday it has. lots of americans got to enjoy a white christmas. it's gorgeous, the best christmas present we could ask for. a strong winter storm out of the rockies brought several feet of snow to the midwest. the northeast got its share as well. some places receiving three to t five inches of snow per hour. although it fell more rapidly in some areas. with any snowfall there's always a catch, hazardous driving conditions. motorists across the country were advised to stay off the roads monday and for good reason . crews responded to pile

police lawyered the speed limit from 40 miles per hour from boston to the new york border. many drivers were purposely going even slower. the windows get icy and the windshield wipe ers aren't very effective with the ice. near zero visibility was the biggest problem in places like another i, pennsylvania. it only took a light coating of snow to make those roads slippery in the seattle area. parts of washington state got barely an inch overnight but it was enough to make driving a slippery nightmare. i'm stuck in the middle so i can't go anywhere. people out walking had on con tend with frigid temperatures . the temperature in mason city t, ohio monday negative three degrees. it's cold. cold is cold. you got to adjust. all of that snow on the roads combined with freezing temperatures made driving at night even more trech just. in new york, casey seeing electronic, fox news. >> let's go back to

northwestern pennsylvania, record snow, how much? 53 inches, four and a half feet. we'll dot math for you. it all started piling up yesterday and continue ted. within 40 hours the city was buried by a record amount. they got 34 inches just yesterday on christmas which shattered the previous all-time record which was just 8 inches. another i got caught in the cross hairs. the big storm was all the talk on social media. a loft photos posted. we went through twitter, we saw a loft these photos. this one, this is what my grandmother woke up to. since 12 a.m. christmas dayer i has gotten over 55 inches that is the average for january and december combined. there is another pick of rearry right there. trying to find my car in ner i it's like playing where's waldau.er i, pennsylvania, snowfall record, 53 inches, let that sing in. there's a wendys somewhere behind t

that's unreal. that looks like at least a first or second floor wind on. snowed in is an understatement. snowy is christmas there. i checked in with sue. i don't believe -- i don't think she had to come back from another i. i got three messages from sue here. they might get another eight to 12 inches tonight. just another casual snow. you already got five, what's eight. i have a lot of friends from up in another i. this is impacting burials. the cemetery can't move the cemeteries quickly enough. it's not like it's going to get any warmer. it's only going to get colder. you got all this snow that's not going anywhere any time soon. lake effects is -- we all have our limits. remember we we got 32 inches a couple years

>> have we recovered? those are incredible. they went bed to last night and they just got more by 6 a.m. that is not in our forecast. the amount of snow in our forecast is incredibly minor, but around here probably still going to have some impacts. we may have some flurries overnight close to the morning drive for wednesday which could impact some of the roads around here. it's very cold. anything could stick pretty quickly and then following just a light dusting artic winds they're howling again tomorrow, wind chills in the 20s all day long. thursday looks bitterly cold. many of us will start the day in the single digits to mid teens. following that some late week snow chances . originally it looked like maybe friday, maybe saturday. saturday is still a possibility but even as we get into new years and beyond there's some chances for snow. the models have a hard time handling

chance on where this there. 36- degrees outside right here in wash to be. weer ' above freez ing. thirty-five in annapolis, 31 gaithersburg. thirty-two out at dulles. look at this incredible cold air just north and west of us. it's eight in buffalo right now. no doubt could snow on the ground there. it's 12 in destroivment it's four degrees in chicago. fargo, who lives in fargo in i want to know who settled in far negotiation it couldn't have been during the winter months, seven blow. that's the air temperature. these are incredible numbers you'll see when this cold air gets dislodg ed from the north pole. this is straight from the pole. you've got air temperatures in the order of 20 to 25-degrees blow diseer on. a piece of that will move into the west and will reach us by this weekend where we'll have temperatures close to zero degrees. we've got a few clouds and the lake effect snow has settled down a bit for places like anot

of buffalo. there are still some snow showers streaming off the lake. if you're around one of these bands around western pennsylvania and western new york you're still seeing some snow up there. any light snow we get will be after midnight so temperature will fall blow freezing. here's another look at what we're expecting overnight, not much at all. there's just enougheny with a cold front moving through that we could see an area of light snow bloos ooming late tonight. d.c. up 95 through bawlt p more has the chance of seeing some light snow. if this is correct it would impact more like southern maryland into more central portion of virginia. you get the idea. weave eve got an area of light snow that is possible in that three to seven a.m. timeframe before it all quickly moves out and we've got sunshine for the rest of our wednesday vmentd it will be a bright day. turning our days to the end of the week, lots of cold air present, that's an understatement. still trying to figure out where our best snow threat is. i

the chance of a few fleur is on friday, saturday one model saying maybe a clipper will come through and we've got something the other model saying wait for that sunday to monday timeframe we're going to have and we're're we get closer to new year's weekend. some area of light snow which will cause freezing conditions on the road so be careful. three # degrees becoming sunny and cold. it feels like it's 20 in all day. we deent even hit 30 greece and that's in the city. a slight rebounded and i'm keeping the chance for some morning flurries in. sunday new year's eve itself looks descrie. if you you want to go out at night with temperatures in the teens and wind chills getting into the single digits at your own pearl new year's day that is also another chance we could be watching for some snow. it's so cold out that anything that is going to run through is going to be snow. we've got a couple of opportunities. no big storms at least right
